Kewanna-Union Township Public Library

Our Mission:

The Kewanna Union Township Public Library is the center of community life, offering opportunities for people to learn, grow, and succeed.


Kyle Rans, owner of Harrison, Metzger, & Rans Funeral Homes, will be presenting a program, “Preparing for the Future”, on Wednesday, September 4 at 11:00 in the Kewanna Union Township Public Library.

Kyle will take the guesswork out of your end of life event.   Even if you’re perfectly healthy with a long life ahead of you, it’s never too soon to prepare for the future.   Preparing for the future can give you a sense of peace for today.   Everyone is welcome for this presentation.

Celebrate a new school year at the Back to School Bash in  Kewanna Public Library.  The Back to School Bash will be held on Wed., August 28 @ 4:00.  Join your friends for games, crafts, food, fun, and more!

Congratulations to our readers for making our summer reading program a big success!  Our 8 week program began on May 28th and ended on July 22nd.   72 readers participated in our program this year.  The readers were very busy reading and earned over 7300 points during the summer.   Our Super Reader Prize winner was Josiah Helt.  He received 1,027 pts. for reading this summer.  The Most Points Prize winners were: Ages 0-6 Zachary Bates & Zoey Bates; Ages 7-11 Reuben Helt; Ages 12-18 Ashlyn Bailey.  Grand Prize entries were received for attending summer programs and for checking out books.  The Grand Prize winners were:  Ages 0-6 Carson Bennett; Ages 7-11 Corbyn Bailey; Ages 12-18 Kaitlynn Shidler.  The June drawing prize winner was Zoey Bates.  She won 4 reserved seat tickets to an Indianapolis Indians game.  The July drawing prize winner was McKenna Field, and her prize was 4 reserved seat tickets to a Ft. Wayne Komets game.

We ended A Universe of Stories with our Summer Reading Celebration on Thursday, July 25th.  Over 60 people participated in this special event.  We had face painting by Lindsey Kozubik and Teresa Flickinger, and Becky Hott helped serve delicious food.  We had free give aways, free books, and lots of fun!  Summer Reading Completion Certificates were given to all finishers for their hard work.  The special prize winners were announced and were awarded their prizes.  Many door prizes were also given out to those in attendance.  Everyone had a good time at the Summer Reading Celebration and left with big smiles!

 Veteran, Roger Miller will be presenting a program in Kewanna Public Library on Thursday, August 22 @ 6:00 pm.  He will be sharing his expertise about the usefulness of plants.   Mr. Miller will be talking about the medical qualities of certain plants and plants in nature that can be used for food.
