2024 “Adventure Begins @ Your Library” Youth Summer Reading Program Kewanna-Union Township Public Library
Congratulations to our readers for making the 2024 Youth Summer Reading Program a huge success! Our 8 week program began May 28 and ended on July 20. 112 readers participated in our program this year. The readers were very busy reading, completing Craft To Go Kits, and attending lots of summer reading events and summer programs.
Our Summer Reading Camp programs on Thursdays @ 4:00 have included making CD camp fires, rain sticks, ice cream in a bag, animal home STEM challenge, necklaces out of wood slices, s’more trail mix, and bee pollination activity.
Our Thursday night special events have been lots of fun too! They included the Summer Reading Kick-Off Event, Tippecanoe River State Park Event, Dig into Rocks, Cookies & Canvas, Fire Safety Program, an Ice Cream Social, and our End of Summer Reading Celebration. We really appreciate everyone that contributed to these special events.
Our library also had booths at the Pulaski County 4-H Fair and the Fulton County 4-H Fair. We had a great time seeing our patrons and meeting lots of new people. Many people stopped to play games, win prizes, and get free books.
Thank you to the Rochester Community School Food Service Department for furnishing delicious, hot lunches during the summer for our youth.
Many prizes were given this summer including Weekly Prizes won by Meela White, Zoey Bates, Lillian Nowell, Amos Green, Kai Miller, Ezra Jenkinson, Paitynn Jobe, and Callie White.
June & July Prize winners were Jasper Martindale, Greyson Brockus, Mavis Beall, and Wilbur Rude.
Summer Reading Prize winners: Ages 0-6 Briton Brockus, Mila White, and Jett Young; Ages 7-11 Karissa Klinefelter, Riley Miller, and Micah Smith; Ages 12-18 Jordan Laffoon, Cheyenne Price, and Lexi Springer.
We ended “Adventure Begins @ Your Library” with our Summer Reading Celebration on a Thursday, July 25th. Almost 50 people participated in this special event. We had free give aways, lots of door prizes, and hot dogs with chips! Summer Reading Certificates were given to those who participated in our Summer Reading Program. Special Prize winners were also announced. Everyone had a good time and left with big smiles!
