The Underground Railroad 10/11/17

Kewanna Union Township Public Library will be hosting “The Underground Railroad” given by Jeannie Regan-Dinius on Wednesday, Oct. 11 @ 11:00

During the 1800s, thousands of enslaved Africans sought their freedom through various means of escape. Some left without any assistance from others, some found help, only when needed, by individuals along the route who had no connection to others, and still others utilized a system we have come to know as the Underground Railroad.  Spend time with Jeannie Regan-Dinius, Director of Special Initiatives for the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology, as she makes history come alive and explains the Underground Railroad system in Indiana.

“The Underground Railroad” is a state approved educational program for librarians.  LEU certificates are available for librarians that attend this program.  Everyone is welcome.
